Machine-learning models

Every model on the three dashboards in one place: what it forecasts, how it did when tested on past data, and a link straight to its card.

Natural gas dashboard → Crude oil dashboard → Power & energy dashboard →

How to read the models

  • CodesG = gas, C = crude, P = power. The same code appears on the model's card on the dashboard.
  • Tested before it is shownEach model is run over past years as if live: every forecast uses only data published before it.
  • A rule to beatEach model is scored against a simple rule, such as the five-year average or "same as last week". Cards say plainly when a model does not beat it.
  • Live or learningLive models refresh every day. Learning models are still collecting ship-tracker history and switch on by themselves.
